The Never-ending Story
During nearly three years in the Nevada state prison, I completed six handwritten manuscript drafts of novels, and had begun a seventh prior to my release on parole in June, 2007. While in prison I was not allowed to draft the books on electronic media, which I am now in the process of doing. They are large manuscripts (more than 250 thousand words each) and still require several iterations of editing to condense and organize to publishable construct, and some research remains that could not be done in prison.
Six of the novels comprise an anthology that I call “Sophy’s Way: Parallel Worlds of the Moon” in reference and reverence to the lost goddess Sophia, the Goddess of Wisdom, whose essence and presence saved my life and, yes, my very soul from certain death during my prison time.
The underlying theme of the novels concerns man’s inherent cruel and duplicitous nature, but primarily the books deal with the lost intimate relationship between immanent sexuality and transcendent divinity (the essence of life, renewal, and creativity) -- the unifying link between the divine Consciousness and the earthly Psyche. Mankind's never-ending acts of war, genocide, and oppression – all in the name of willful power – destroy the natural creativity, compassion, love, and beauty of life on the earth (Gaia), who herself has been despoiled by the hegemonic patriarchal culture that is the dominant cause of malevolence in the world today.
The anthological relationship developed inexplicably, muse-like, for the books were not written in the order that they logically embody -- the first two being written fourth and fifth, and the fifth and sixth in the logical sequence written first. Nor were they purposely intended to relate to one another, except for the two Moon Shadows titles.
Brief single-sentence descriptions of the novels are presented below in their logical sequence:
The first manuscript, Mansions of the Moon: The Recluse (draft completed 12/31/06), may be described as the tale of an old man, much like me I suppose, unexpectedly released from prison, who is taken in by a coven of seductive pagan goddesses, unlike me, to help them deter impendent global genocide.
The second novel, essentially a sequel to the first, called Princess Crescent-Moon: The Eminence of Venus (draft completed 05/15/07) is about a teenage Hopi Indian goddess who tries to preserve, nurture, and renew the earth during the pestilent years of tribulation before Armageddon.
The third book, titled Rebelle: The Girl from Shangri-La (draft completed 09/23/06), tells of a Mao-rebel Rana Tharu Nepali girl who is rescued by an American couple and brought to the oligarchic United States to help fight for the people’s freedom, rights, and lives.
The final two books of the anthology, Moon Shadows: the Genesis and Moon Shadows: the Revelation (drafts completed 5/28/06), concern voluptuous nimbus-clad daughters of ancient gods and goddesses who are reborn on earth to save humanity from the oppressive tyranny of the New World Order.
A sixth book that will become a part of the collection is in progress. Tentatively called Kore-Kunte: Princess of the Rockies (original draft to be completed in 2009) is about a young Kootenai Indian princess, the lone survivor of a covert black-government mass murder on a Montana Indian reservation, who strikes back with a vengeance against the neo-fascist American government.
Finally, the seventh book and my very first manuscript, The Sweetwater Conspiracy: The Legend of Cattle Kate (draft completed 11/19/05), is western genre based on the true story of ruthless land-grabbing cattle barons who terrorize a vivacious young female homesteader in the Wyoming Territory in the late 1880's.
